I'm so excited to announce the first annual Surface Design Retreat curated by Studio Xhico.
Join me as we go into the studios of Oaxacan artisans for a behind the scenes look into their process and final creations. We will visit rug weavers, sculptors, and the creators of the magical alebrijes.
Of course there will be plenty of delicious food – after all, it is the land of seven moles. There will be time for friends, shopping and few workshops.
As we explore the work of indigenous artisans we will also be learning the difference between inspiration and appropriation. We never want to appropriate anyone's culture.

We are in the early stages of planning. We are anticipating the Retreat to be October 24th-30th. We may also offer an optional add-on. This will be from October 30th-November 2nd, for those of you who want to stay longer to experience Day of the Dead with me.
